New mode of a steady-state superradiant lasing

We show that, for a wind range of parameters of a superradiant laser with a low-Q slightly asymmetric Fabry-Perot cavity, there is a strongly-asymmetric single-mode (narrow-line) lasing. It is defined by an inhomogeneous self-consistent half-wavelength population-inversion grating. We find analytically the universal profile of this grating and unusual profiles of the counter-propagating waves which form the grating and experience Bragg scattering by it. We outline the ways of control of the superradiant polariton mode and demonstrate its stability far above the lasing threshold.
