Temperature stabilized microfluidic chip for plasmonic fiber biosensor

Here, we present experimental realization of plasmonic fiber biosensor incorporated in microfluidic chip with thermostabilization. The fiber biosensor was based on a tilted fiber Bragg grating covered with a thin gold layer to generate surface plasmon resonance. Temperature stabilization was realized by implementation of a Peltier cell with active PID-controller to exclude the influence of temperature changes in the measured medium. Furthermore, the plasmonic surface of fiber was functionalized with specific proteins to selectively detect biomarkers in biofluids. Marker detection is achieved through a change in the refractive index due to the specific reaction of the interaction of specific proteins with biomarkers on the surface of the optical fiber.
