Experimental Evaluation for TCP/IP Communication Performance in Multi-Hop Private LoRa Network

Low-power wide-area (LPWA) is a major communicaiton technology used in the Internet of Things (Io‘I’), Major sensor networks are constructed using original protocols specific to each LPWA standard and cannot communicate directly with devices connected to the Internet. To enhance the convenience of devices using LPWA, it is necessary to improve their interop-erability with Internet applications with TCP/IP. Previous study have enabled Single-hop TCP/IP communication over Private LoRa. In this study, we construct a multi-hop environment for TCP/IP communication over Private LoRa, and evaluate its performance using both UDP and TCP communication. Previous research has enabled one-to-one communication using UDP and TCP over a Private LoRa interface, an LPWA technology. This study leverages the characteristics of LPWA for ultra-Iong-distance transmission and implements TCP/IP communication in a multi-hop environment. This paper evaluates the performance of UDP and TCP on actual devices.
