Dynamic Resource Allocation for Converged Optical and Radio Architecture in 6G Networks

In this paper, we introduce a dynamic resource allocation algorithm for Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Networks (TWDM-PON), aimed at significantly enhancing the efficiency of bandwidth and wavelength utilization for varied services, such as enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC), and massive machine-type communications (mMTC). By employing transmission containers (T-CONTs) for optimal bandwidth distribution among optical network units (ONUs), our proposed algorithm demonstrates 60-70 % more efficiency over traditional fixed and random allocation methods. A custom Python simulator for a 40 Gbps TWDM-PON environment with four wavelengths and varying service demands validates our approach, showcasing significant improvements in resource allocation efficiency for future telecommunications networks.
