Maximizing Cost and Energy Savings in Multi-Band EONs through QoT-Driven Service Deployment

This paper introduces an innovative algorithm, termed Quality of Transmission-driven Service Deployment (QDSD), tailored for multi-band Elastic Optical Networks (EONs). By addressing the saturation issues in the conventional C band, the proposed QDSD algorithm enhances the cost and energy efficiency of C+L-band EONs. It incorporates advanced modulation strategies, considering challenges posed by inter-channel stimulated Raman scattering, and exhibits superior performance in both large and small-scale backbone networks. The algorithm proves effective in reducing both capital expenditure and power consumption, presenting a promising solution for elevating the quality of transmission and optimizing resource utilization in optical communication systems. The findings indicate a $14 \%$ and $33 \%$ reduction in blocking probability for small- and large-scale networks, respectively. Additionally, the algorithm demonstrates a notable decrease of $20 \%$ in cost and $13 \%$ in energy consumption for large-scale backbone networks, along with $\mathbf{9 \%}$ and $5 \%$ reductions for smaller networks.
