Embedding Eye Gaze and Emotions into Tangible Social Media for Transforming Vandalism into Arts

This paper addressed the pervasive issue of van-dalism in public areas by proposing Tangible Social Media, an innovative system leveraging augmented reality (AR) and object recognition. Enabling users to overlay digital content onto physical objects through a robust object recognition framework, Tangible Social Media aimed to redirect destructive vandalism into a constructive avenue for artistic expression. This approach redefined the conventional boundaries of vandalism, encouraging positive engagement within shared spaces. The system's core lay in its reliable object recognition algorithms, which facilitated the creation of an AR-based social network where physical objects acted as canvases for user-generated digital content. Notably, our experiments with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) demonstrated exceptional object recognition performance, vali-dating the system's efficacy. Through its unique blend of AR and social media, Tangible Social Media offered a promising solution to combat vandalism while fostering creative expression within public spaces.
