Performance of Terahertz Wireless Communications in Indoor Environments

Terahertz (THz) technology has gained significant attention in recent years due to its potential applications in various fields. Terahertz radiation is a type of electromagnetic spectrum that lies between the infrared and microwave regions. Although it offers a wide range of advantages, such as large bandwidth, ultra-high data rate and the ability to penetrate various types of materials, The deployment of this technology faces several challenges that need to be addressed to ensure reliable and efficient communication system. This research highlights the challenges that face terahertz communication systems and provides channel modelling technique That capture the behavior of the propagating wave to overcome losses that experienced during the propagation of terahertz waves. Moreover, this research demonstrates a ray-tracing method for modelling shortrange propagation channels at THz band. The received power, capacity and BER are investigated at different frequencies to set a comparison between these two frequencies (100GHz and 2.4GHz). In this simulation, a very detailed non-cubic three-dimensional model of indoor environment has been drawn up. Furthermore, the standard electrical parameters for the building materials were taken from the software reference. The simulation was performed using 25dBi omni-directional antennas at the transmitter and 20dBi directional antennas at the receiver sides.
