OFF-Board EV Charger Based on Interleaved AC-DC Boost Converter

This paper presents an adaptable modular three-phase off-board electric vehicle (EV) fast charger. Each phase of the utility supplies is connected to a single-phase AC-DC module, and the DC output of each module is parallel connected. each AC-DC module is composed of 3-level interleaved boost converters (front-end converter) and galvanic isolation with a single active bridge (back-end converter) with a resonant circuit, to assure soft switching by employing zero voltage transition (ZVT). The proposed control strategy has been implemented to remove the harmonic component and maintain a stable charging current. Besides, keep the power factor close to unity. The proposed EV charger is a suitable fast charging service for EVs in less time with low distortion, less device stress, and an efficient way. MATLAB/SIMULINK Simulation test results of the proposed system are also presented, validating the proposed topology.
