High efficiency, intelligent charger for Li-ion batteries in Electrical Vehicle controlled by application

This paper proposes the implementation and simulation of a fast and intelligent charger Li-ion battery controlled by a mobile application. The charger is adapted for different models and provides safe charging by using the CC/CV modes for more sustainability, remote monitoring, and control with a sophisticated mobile application that works on Android and iOS platforms. The charger has a digital control by an algorithm in the MCU that reads and sends analog signals to the Power circuit that consists of a Linear voltage regulation (LDO), a Power Transistor for current limiting, and a current sense amplifier. The MCU is responsible for controlling all charging stages, as well as the transition between CC and CV. The results show the intelligent charger's high efficiency (94.5%) in controlling all stages of charging and temperature conditions, with the ability to reach a current of 3.5A via simulation speed. This project can be extended to be used in EV charger stations to get the updated charging information remotely or to charge single-cell batteries.
