Design and Simulation of a Belt Loop Waveguide for Around Body Wireless Communication

This paper presents a comprehensive investigation of magneto-inductive waveguide (MIW) for wireless communication around the human body operating at 433 MHz. The theoretical formulations, as proposed by Shamonina, serve as the foundation for developing simulation designs of an axial MIW configured in the shape of belt loops. Notably, this study meticulously addresses the impact of the torso's curvature and the inherent losses of the human body, showcasing the MIW's exceptional performance with minimal loss (< 20 dB) in non-line-of-sight scenarios for around-body propagation.
