Light scattering as a method of investigation of surface excitations

A review of recent results in Brillouin scattering is presented. Until recently, the technique of Brillouin scattering was limited to the study of excitations in transparent materials, but with the latest developments in the instrumentation, it has now become possible to apply these techniques even to metals.
