The High Gain Ka-band LTCC Antenna Design for Electronically Steered Array

This paper presents a Ka-band LTCC (Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) antenna design for an Electronically Steered Array (ESA) in applications such as 5G and LEO satellite communications. The proposed cavity antenna design offers higher gain performance and a symmetrical radiation pattern, addressing the limitations of traditional patch antennas. Integration of III-V power amplifiers enables a significant reduction in the number of antenna elements required to achieve the desired Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP). Experimental results demonstrate a linear system gain of 80 dB and a maximum EIRP of 78 dBm, validating the effectiveness of the LTCC-based antenna design for high-power, efficient, and extended coverage applications.
