The Near Wake Characteristics of Different Hypersonic Vehicles at Various Angles of Attack

The complex aerodynamic phenomena exhibited by a hypersonic vehicle are consistently considered a crucial factor influencing its electromagnetic characteristics. This paper aims to analyze the variations in the near-wake flow field of vehicle models at different angles of attack (AoA) when engaged in hypersonic flow. The investigation centers on the analysis of differences in near-wake flow structures and electron density distributions among multiple models. These models encompass diverse geometries, such as spherical, blunt cone, and sharp cone designs. Furthermore, the study undertakes an examination of the non-uniform distribution of wake patterns resulting from alterations in AoA. Through the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the flow field structures in the near-wake regions of diverse models were computed. The findings unveiled distinctive characteristics within the near-wake flow fields of various hypersonic vehicles. This paper specifically concentrated on the alterations in the flow field near the post-stagnation point induced by changes in AoA.
