Effect of Material, Shape and Transmittance of the DC Glow Discharge Grid Anode on Microwave Transport in the Post-anode Plasma

The effects of material, shape and transmittance of the dc glow discharge grid electrode on attenuation of the microwave radiation in the frequency band from 8 to 14GHz by the post-anode plasma are studied. It has been found that the maximum attenuation of microwave radiation in the post-anode plasma can be obtained by using a grid anode with hexagonal cells and the attenuation increases with an increase in the transparency of the grid anode. Studying an effect of the electrode material showed that nickel and iron can be considered as possible electrode materials in a discharge device designed to create plasma layers that effectively attenuate the microwave radiation. It is obtained that the attenuation of microwave radiation in the post-anode plasma of a short glow discharge with a grid anode increases with a decrease in the length of the discharge gap and an increase in the discharge voltage and decreases with an increase in the pressure of helium.
