An Efficient Approach for Conformal Metasurface Cloak Design of High-order Bezier Surface

In this paper, a conformal metasurface cloak design of high-order Bezier surface (HOBS) is proposed. With the vector-field transformation and theory of characteristic modes, the scattered fields of HOBS are quickly and accurately obtained for conformal metasurface array optimization. Among them, the vector field transformation (VFT) is used to map the directional patterns of the array elements in the local coordinate system to the global coordinate system in which the array is located. The characteristic modes are used as entire-domain basis function to quickly compute the directional patterns of the array elements under different incidences. To demonstrate effectiveness and applicability, the scattered fields from various higher-order Bezier surfaces are calculated theoretically and verified by full-wave simulation, respectively. The results can be seen in good agreement between the theoretical calculation and the full-wave simulation. Moreover, two of metasurface cloaks are designed to wrap Bezier surface obstacle at microwave frequencies with using the proposed theoretical approach to optimize the array phase distribution. The results indicate that the cloak is essentially able to recover the amplitude and phase of the reflected beam as if the wave is incident on a plane mirror or any pre-designed shape.
