Orientation Selection Analysis of a Special Electromagnetic Shield in HEMP Residual Electric Field Test

This paper discusses the orientation selection of an electromagnetic (EM) shield with two apertures on two separate sides in high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) residual electric field testing. The EM simulation is used in this paper to simulate the test with different incident wave direction and different external electric field direction. Based on the information of incident wave and external electric field, the simulation results are then processed to obtain the orientation selection diagrams. According to the incident wave direction and the electric field direction, the simulation results are processed with artificial neural network, so as to form the final orientation selection diagrams of the residual electric field test. Thus the field tests to find the maximum coupling orientation are no longer needed. The whole procedure greatly simplifies the test. Time consuming and cost of the test will be greatly saved.
