MW-power "Inverted-Gyrotron" Cyclotron-resonance Rectenna

The paper discusses possibility of the development of high-power high-frequency wireless energy transfer based on novel cyclotron resonance rectenna, which converts microwave energy into DC current. The key feature of such idea is using of "inverted gyrotron", where a large-radius tubular electron beam interacts with a high-order mode of oversized resonators. Based on the theoretical investigation we determine main parameters of a W-band rectenna with a megawatt level of received power. According to simulations, the maximum efficiency of the rectenna can be more than 70%. Implementing millimeter wave systems will makes it possible to significantly reduce the size of the transmitting and receiving antennas, improve the directivity of the microwave beams, and reduce transmission losses when using the atmospheric transparency windows.
