Passive Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) for Enhanced Wireless Communications

The fifth generation (5G) wireless communication system, operating in the mm-Wave regime, faces significant challenges due to high penetration loss resulting from Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) conditions. To address this issue, a passive Reflecting Intelligent Surface (RIS) offers a cost-effective solution for channel reconfiguration through the application of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm to optimize the signal quality. This study presents the design and systematic validation of a passive RIS.
