A Compact High-gain Array Antenna Based on Gap Waveguide Feed in W-band

In this paper, a wide-band and high-gain waveguide slot antenna fed by ridge gap waveguide in W-band (75 GHz–110 GHz) is proposed. The antenna has a novel and compact structure with three disconnected layers, making the structure easier to manufacture and mechanical assembly. Full-wave analysis with simulation results is given to demonstrate that the −10 dB impedance bandwidth is 11% (92.8 ∼ 103.5 GHz). And the gain of the 8 × 8 array exceeds 25.5 dBi with the radiation efficiency About 80%. It is an excellent candidate antenna for W-band wireless system.
