An Efficient Coupling Prediction Method for Transmission Line under an External EMP with Uncertainties

In the coupling simulation analysis of a strong electromagnetic pulse and cable network, various uncertainties existing in the actual engineering environment need to be included, which poses new challenges to the accuracy and efficiency of the simulation. Aiming at this challenge, this paper gives a method to estimate the statistical characteristics of the response of a transmission line model with some uncertainties parameters by the Stochastic Collocation Method (SCM). The Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is combined with SCM together to solve the telegraph equation at the matching points of uncertainty parameters first, and the Polynomial Chaos coefficients of the transmission line response are solved by the Gauss integral, the statistical characteristics of the coupling response of transmission line with some uncertainties are obtained. Compared with Monte Carlo (MC) method, the accuracy and efficiency of the method is proved. In addition, because this method is non-invasive and does not need to modify the coupling solver, it can better deal with the contradiction between accuracy and computational complexity in transmission line coupling simulation with some uncertainties.
