220 GHz and 205 GHz Orthogonal Modulators Used in a Real Time Communication System

In this paper, a 220 GHz real time bidirectional communication system based on 205 GHz and 220 GHz orthogonal modulators are designed, analyzed and measured. This communication system consists of real time baseband boards, 220 GHz and 205 GHz transceivers, power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, filters, duplexers and antennas. The communication system real time transmits and receives 4 K video when the transmitting rate is 20 Gbps per channel. The communication distance is about 50 meters when the antennas are horn antenna and cassegrain antenna and their gains are 25 dBi and 50 dBi respectively. In the future the PA will be replaced by the new version and the antennas will be both 50 dBi cassegrain antennas, then the communication working distance can be up to 2 km.
