Inverse Design of Stacked Cylinders Scatterers by Evolutionary Optimization

In this work, we evaluate the performance of a covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) in designing the topology of a stacked concentric cylinders cavity to achieve a specific optical response. We chose three-cylinder structure as a balance between computational complexity and the flexibility of the designed system. We demonstrated a variety of scattering regimes of this structure and tested the performance of the optimization algorithm enabling the generalized Kerker effect and superscattering regime.
