The Design and Realization Technology of the Amplitude Flatness of Multi-chip Interconnect in Ka Band Broadband Inverter

This paper introduces the design method, implementation form and simulation results of key amplitude flatness index when multi-chip interconnection is adopted for Ka-band converter of communication satellite. At present, the basic design means of complex single machine or component, such as microwave receiver and converter, are mainly the primary simulation of ideal circuit model through theoretical formula tabulated calculation method or RF circuit simulation software. The performance indexes of actual products designed by this design method are quite different from the simulation results, and the worst amplitude flatness of Ka-band converter is about 9dB. In order to realize zero commissioning, the high-precision design method introduced in this paper is based on the independent cavity sealing of the front and back vertical interconnection functional circuit, and adopts the unitized design idea. The single-cavity RF circuit adopts the field and circuit co-simulation to optimize matching search and eliminate the factors affecting the broadband amplitude flatness. Finally, all the units of the whole link are cascaded into simulation. The Ka-band broadband converters don’t need debugging. The amplitude flatness performance index of Ka/Ku down converter produced by ThalesAlenia is less than or equal to 1dB in the 1GHz bandwidth range. After using the broadband design technology introduced in this paper, the 1.1GHz broadband amplitude flatness is directly reduced from the traditional design method of 9.427dB to 1.1dB, reaching the international first-class level.
