The Design of a Sheet Beam Electron Optical System for a Ku Band Continuous Wave Traveling Wave Tube

The electron optical system is a key component of the traveling wave tube (TWT), which is used to provide the DC input to drive the device. In this paper, an electron optical system (EOS) is designed for a Ku-band band sheet electron beam (SEB) TWT. This EOS can generate an 18-kV, 1.4-A SEB with a cross section of 0.7mm*9.2mm. In addition, this EOS employs a periodic cusp magnetic (PCM) for confining the SEB. The simulation proves that all the particles can pass through the channel with a full length of 400mm without any interception.
