Electron Guns for Highly Efficient Electron-Cyclotron Energy Converters

The concept of an adiabatic electron-optical system for the formation of an electron beam, which can be used in powerful electron-cyclotron energy converters of microwave radiation into direct current energy, is proposed. Based on the theory of motion of charged particles in weakly inhomogeneous electric and magnetic fields, analytical estimates of the parameters of electron-optical systems for Ka and W frequency range converters were performed. Numerical modeling of these systems in order to reduce parasitic oscillations of the electron beam and it’s radial thickness in the working space of the device to an acceptable level was carried out.
