Three-dimensional Spatial Multiplexed Holography for Accurate Reception Range and Position Control in Visible Light Communication

In the burgeoning 6G era, visible light communication (VLC) emerges as a pivotal technology. Despite its advantages in speed and resistance to electromagnetic interference, VLC faces challenges in multi-user environments, notably in energy dispersion and inefficient coverage. To address these issues, we propose a novel multi-user multiplexing holography technique using for VLC, focusing on three-dimensional space coverage and beam positioning, named random-phase multiplane holography (RMPH). This technique merges the strengths of wavefront shaping and digital holography, enabling precise control over the coverage range and beam position for different users. Our approach significantly improves upon existing methods like multi-focal Fresnel lens (MF), Gerchberg-Saxton (GS), and traditional multi-plane holography (MPH) techniques. In comparative experiments, our method demonstrated a 70.3% enhancement in coverage range and an 85.4% reduction in depth offset, compared to MF and MPH methods, respectively. This innovative approach offers tailored reception ranges and effectively resolves the depth multiplexing issue, a notable shrtcoming in digital holography. This research represents a groundbreaking advancement in VLC technology, showcasing the potential for high-precision, customized range coverage and beam manipulation in multi-user 6G VLC networks. Our findings open new avenues for efficient and effective communication solutions in the 6G era, catering specifically to diverse user needs in a multi-dimensional space.
