A Novel Polarization-reconfigurable Dielectric Resonator Antenna Based on Liquid Material

A sector-shaped dielectric resonant antenna is proposed in this paper, its main radiator is the ethyl acetate liquid. Using the properties of the sector resonant cavity, two orthogonal fundamental modes can be excited by exciting two different positions. By choosing a suitable feed point in the middle of the two excitation points, circular polarization of the antenna can be achieved. Our proposed antenna is tunable between three polarization modes: RHCP, LHCP and LP. Under circular polarization mode, the antenna axial ratio bandwidth and impedance bandwidth are well conformed. Under linear polarization mode, the antenna achieves a large bandwidth of 1.09 GHz.
