Liquid Crystal Enabled Multichannel Vectorial Holography for Optical Encryption

Vectorial holography that employs the polarization of electromagnetic waves for lens-free holographic imaging has offered unprecedented prospects for high-secure information encryption. Here, we propose one strategy of LC-based vectorial holographic encryption by encoding the phase difference distribution in the helicity-multiplexed holographic images, and the vectorial information is flexibly encrypted in overlapping areas. A novel nested vectorial encryption scheme is also demonstrated to achieve parallel information transmission with high capacity and security. The high-quality, high-efficiency, high-capacity holographic encryption achieved in this work may open a promising new avenue for LCs to develop more smart compact devices, holding promising applications in the fields of all-optical processing, artificial neural networks, data storage, holographic fabrication, optical communications, anticounterfeiting, etc.
