Investigation of Electrodynamic Characteristics of the G- and W-Bands Folded Waveguide Slow-Wave Structure

This study investigates the electrodynamic characteristics of “folded waveguide”-type slow-wave structures (SWSs) within the G-band (75–110 GHz) and W-band (110–300 GHz) frequency ranges. These SWSs are favored for high-frequency applications due to their advantages: higher gain, broader operating bandwidth, compact size, versatility, and simpler fabrication compared to structures like coupled cavities. Using HFSS software for 3D modeling and MATLAB for post-processing, we analyzed key electrodynamic properties, including dispersion characteristics and characteristic impedance. Additionally, we examined the influence of the electron beam transit channel on these parameters. The analysis highlights the crucial importance of carefully considering the transit channel size and accurately incorporating it into SWS simulations.
