Analysis of modified Buck-Boost Converter in Battery charging system by using solar energy

One type of non-isolated DC-DC converter which can transit between buck, boost and buck -boost modes is the conventional buck-boost converter which consists of two switches. The gate triggering signals allow the circuit topology to alter the modes of circuit operation. A novel redesigned structure of the Two-Switch buck-boost topology is presented in this work. The suggested converter contains only less conduction loss and switching MOSFETs than a traditional Two-Switch buck-boost converter even if it has the same total number of components. As a result, there is less power loss and so the efficiency is enhanced in the restructured converter. Additionally, the MOSFETS source terminals in the proposed topology are directly linked to the ground. Hence, the low-side gate driver integrated circuit is easily adopted to trigger the MOSFETs and because of it the circuit complexity is reduced. As solar energy is stochastic in nature, the DC-DC converters become vital part of the battery storage systems. The modified circuit is designed for the input voltage of 24 V suitable for battery storage system by using solar energy and the simulation is carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK to verify the efficiency enhancement of the proposed topology.
