A Better Way of Allocation of Resources in the Field of CECCN

With the introduction of Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC), the notion of leveraging cloud-hosted components to get around mobile devices’ resource constraints became more widely accepted. However, as smartphones and tablets gained popularity, the definition of MC evolved. Although aggregating several devices—sometimes referred to as a “cloud of devices”—is also taken into consideration, MCC mostly involves employing mobile devices to access cloud-hosted services these days. With more individuals owning several mobile devices, apps that let users share hardware and software resources across many devices are growing in popularity. Decentralised coordination, resource sharing, and communication amongst several mobile devices have consequently gained significance. The capability of combining several mobile devices running the same mobile application into one computing environment that effectively and decentralised makes use of all available hardware and software resources is the focus of this paper’s exploration of “horizontal scalability” in applications. Designing mobile apps as collections of RESTful micro-services and enabling communication between these services using low-bandwidth IoT protocols is one possible way to do this. The results of performance assessments on mobile devices running RESTful micro-services and interacting with the CoAP IoT protocol in a range of WIFI settings are presented in this paper.
