SCAPS-1D simulation of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) based solar cells

Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is a promising semiconductor for the construction of high-performance photovoltaic conversion thin-film devices due to its excellent physicochemical properties, environmental friendliness, and natural abundance of carbon. The key parameters of the materials used in photovoltaics need to be optimized to increase the power conversion efficiency. Here, SCAPS is used to simulate the performance of the SWCNT-based thin film solar cell with a thin film structure of FTO/CdS/SWCNT/SnS/Au. The short-circuit current density (Jsc), open-circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (PCE) were investigated in this study, along with the effects of absorber and buffer layer thickness, absorber layer acceptor density, total defect density of the absorber, and temperature. The optimized PCE of the proposed SWCNT-based thin film solar cell was obtained to be $28.53 \%$. These results demonstrate that we can fabricate low-cost and high-efficiency SWCNT photovoltaic conversion devices.
