Control and Observation of Asynchronous Motor Speed using Hyperbolic Sliding Mode Approach

With the growing demand for the use of alternating current motors in the industry, the development of robust and efficient control laws becomes necessary. In this regard, this paper proposes an in-depth study of the dynamic behavior of sensorless squirrel-cage induction motor driven by non-linear sliding mode control. This study focuses primarily on reducing the chattering phenomenon by proposing three configurations: sliding mode control with “Sign” evaluation function, followed by “Sat” and hyperbolic tangent “Th” functions. Secondly, for extracting feedback information from the asynchronous motor, a sliding mode observer based on stator current regulation will be employed. The proposed sliding mode control structures will be studied within the framework of a comparative analysis using numerical simulations in the MATLAB/SIMULINK software. This study will take into account various operating conditions and disturbances to evaluate the control strategies performances.
