Wideband Polarization Insensitive Radar Wave Absorber/Reflector

In this paper, a broadband polarization-insensitive abs orber/reflector with multi-function switchability is proposed. The active components are integrated within the frequency selective surface(FSS), while the PIN diode serves as a circuit switch to enable switchable functionality. The bias network of the PIN diode is well integrated into the active frequency selective surface(AFSS) and no dedicated bias lines are required. The impact of dedicated bias lines can be significantly alleviated. The bias network responsible for different polarization directions is geometrically separated by a pair of vias, which can be switched between the four working states by controlling the horizontal and vertical direction diodes respectively. In addition, the proposed structure has a wider operating bandwidth and good polarization insensitivity characteristics compared to previous switchable absorber/reflector designs. Surface current and equivalent circuit model physical analysis methods are used to help better understand the operation principle of switchable absorber/reflector.
