Design and Simulation of 100MW Floating Solar PV System: A Idukki Reservoir Case Study

This paper explores the potential of a 100 MWp floating photovoltaic (FPV) system at Kerala’s Idukki Reservoir, leveraging PVsyst, Global Solar Atlas, and Meteonorm 8.0 data. By modeling the FPV system’s performance in line with reservoir features and regional sunlight, we find an average normalized output of 165,974,766 kWh/kWp/year. Moreover, the system reduces CO2 emissions by 3,833,762.0 tons, offering valuable insights into its performance and energy generation potential above water bodies.
