Research on High-Performance Organic Thin-Film Transistors

Compared to inorganic semiconductors, organic semiconductors have the advantages of lightness, solubility, and flexibility. However, organic semiconductor devices have the disadvantages of larger drive voltage than inorganic devices, very low mobility compared to silicon, and instability in the atmosphere. To avoid this drawback of large drive voltage, we proposed to modify the molecular arrangement by annealing process. Specifically, we estimated the high-frequency tracking characteristics of carriers in the organic film from the C- V characteristic stored capacitance value and evaluated how they are changed by the annealing process. As a result, we found that the change in molecular arrangement by annealing treatment improves the carrier conduction property, leading to the possibility of low-voltage drive of organic transistors.
