How 5G Can Support Worker Well-Being: The RedCap Solution

A monitoring system may involve the connection of several different IoT (Internet of Things) devices, that continuously generate, process and transmit comparatively limited amounts of data in real-time. In this study we refer to monitoring applications related in general to worker well-being and workplace safety, and evidence network function requirements arising from this kind of applications. We discuss how these might best be tackled in a wearable sensor system based on the 5G architecture, by leveraging the essential features of 5G reduced capability (RedCap) specifications introduced by 5G Release 17.
