Low-Power Single-Stage Programmable CMOS LNA for Ku-Band Applications

A Ku-Band Low Noise Amplifier with digitally controllable gain is presented in this work. A single-stage in-ductively degenerated common-source topology is designed while current-steering technique is utilized to achieve controllability. The amplifier is implemented on the TSMC 65nm CMOS process within Cadence IC Suite and post-layout simulated (both parasitic and electromagnetic extraction). The design is optimized for low-power consumption of 6.62m W from a 0.8V power supply operating at 13.5GHz-16.5GHz bandwidth while achieving 9 dB gain and noise figure of 0.85 dB.
