Perovskite Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics

Lead halide perovskite having organic A-site cation is promising materials for photovoltaics and optoelectronics. Since the seminal work on the 9.7%-efficient solid-state perovskite solar cell reported in 2012, materials and devices engineering improved the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cell over 26% that is comparable with silicon solar cell efficiency. Tandem structure formed by placing a perovskite solar cell on top of the silicon solar cell reached a PCE of 33.9%. This superb performance originates from the excellent optoelectronic properties of halide perovskite. Here, recent progress of perovskite photovoltaics is described, and future research directions are discussed.
