Detecting a Main Lobe Spatial Position of the VICTS Antenna’s Radiation Pattern

The purpose of the work is developing software to control the spatial position of the main lobe considered antenna’s radiation pattern. A mathematical model of antenna based on variable inclination continuous transverse stubs has been proposed, which makes it possible to calculate the antenna pattern at different angles of the radiator’s rotation. The theoretical model is utilized to reveal the nonlinear dependence the angular position of the radiation pattern’s beam on the rotation angle of the radiators. The factors influencing the spatial orientation of the radiation pattern’s beam are examined. The phase shifts that occur when rotating one slot, between two adjacent slots, and frequency scanning are taken into account. Comparison of mathematical and electrodynamics results is shown. The maximum deviation of the mathematical model from the electrodynamic model was 2 degrees at scanning angles $0^{\circ}-50^{\circ}$. The proposed method for determining the spatial position of the considered antenna beam will be implemented in software designed for guidance and tracking of satellites within the advanced terrestrial satellite communication terminal. Tracking and guidance on real time is required for communications systems using low-orbit and medium-orbit satellites or for satellite communication on the move.
