Experimental Research of the Strength Test Bench Control System with a Resonant Controller

The problem of control system design for a strength test bench of mechanical structures, where an electric hydraulic drive is used as an actuator, is considered. The control problem under discussion is the formation of a given harmonic behavior of force loading for mechanical structures. Usually, control systems for strength test benches use a proportional-integral control algorithm, which allows for high accuracy in generating a constant force load value. However, in the mode of formation of the harmonic behavior of force loading for structures, the use of a proportional-integral control algorithm does not allow to provide the required control accuracy due to the nonlinearity of the dynamic characteristics of the test benches and the presence of delays in the control loop. In this work, it is proposed to use a proportional control algorithm with special resonant blocks to increase the stability margin of the system, and to ensure the required accuracy of the harmonic behavior of force loading. The parameters of the resonant blocks are selected depending on the frequency spectrum of the control error signal. The paper presents the results of experimental studies of the possibility of increasing the control accuracy on strength test benches due to resonant proportional controllers.
