The Equal Current Distribution Ensuring Methods in Power Cells of Multi-Phase Power Converters

Promising aviation electrical systems involve the use of powerful semiconductor converters on board. It is advisable to build such devices according to the multiphase power conversion principle, which makes it possible to simplify the cooling conditions of the device, increase the manufacturability of the power conversion part, improve electromagnetic compatibility, increase specific parameters and improve dynamic characteristics of the converter. However, when using this principle of power conversion, due to the technological dispersion of power and logical electronic components, the problem of unequal currents distribution between the power cells of the converter arises. This paper proposes possible ways to solve this problem. The main idea of the proposed methods is the introduction of additional current feedback loop and the generation of a pulse width modulation control signal depending on the current change. The performance of the proposed methods was confirmed using computer simulation. As the obtained results showed, the developed methods make it possible to reduce the maximum level of difference between currents in power cells from $\mathbf{6 0 0 - 9 0 0 \%}$ to $7-9 \%$.
