Generation of S-band Nanosecond Microwave Pulses Using Nonlinear Transmission Lines with Ferrite

The generation of high-power nanosecond pulses of high-frequency radiation can be realized using various methods. Today, among generators whose pulse duration is units and tens of nanoseconds, along with traditional vacuum devices, systems based on nonlinear transmission lines with saturated ferrite filling are promising. What sets them apart from traditional generators is that they are solid-state devices, which greatly simplifies their practical use. Recently, a nonlinear coaxial transmission line configuration has been implemented that uses permanent magnets instead of a solenoid to saturate the ferrite filling of the line. It is a coaxial transmission line whose inner conductor is a corrugated structure with periodic arrangement of rings of ferrites and permanent NdFeB magnets. For this configuration, generation of nanosecond L-band pulses was successfully implemented. This article presents the results of the development and experimental study of two high-frequency pulse generators in the S-band based on a corrugated configuration. For the first generator, the generation of microwave pulses in the frequency range $2.5-3 \mathrm{GHz}$ with duration of up to 4 ns and peak power reaching 226 MW was demonstrated. The second generator allows you to generate pulses with duration of up to 3 ns in the frequency range $3.25-4 \mathrm{GHz}$ with maximum peak power of 107 MW.
