Improved Estimation of the Radiated Emission from Structures with Multiple Modal Reservation

Interference protective structures are used to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of modern radioelectronic devices. A program for estimating the radiated emission from such structures based on an earlier proposed approach that combines the quasi-static and thin-wire electrodynamic types of analysis is developed. This paper presents the testing and verification results of the developed program. Microstrip transmission lines with one, two, and three conductors and with two types of circuit ground (an infinite ground in the form of a perfect electrically conducting plane and a finite ground in the form of a single reference conductor) were investigated as test structures. Simulations of the test structures were carried out in the frequency range of 0.5–20 GHz with a step of 0.5 GHz. The frequency dependencies of the module of the maximum electrical field strength, calculated in this program, were compared with the results obtained by electrodynamic analysis using the finite-difference time-domain method. The compared results showed a good agreement. It is shown that the program also significantly reduces the simulation computational time by an average of 1.8 times compared to the electrodynamic analysis. The developed program can be further utilized for developing new approaches to the construction and assembly of printed circuit boards with MR, taking into account the level of emission from them.
