Industrial Automation for Regulating the Technological Process of High-Pressure Hydrogen Generation

The paper presents a number of features that favorably distinguish the process of hydrogen generation under pressure using water electrolysis from other methods of obtaining it. The current state of the hydrogen energy market is briefly described. The need for further development and improvement of hydrogen production technologies to reduce its cost and improve the environmental situation is substantiated. The fundamental scheme of the reactor of such a device and the features of pressure control in the oxygen and hydrogen circuits of the generator are described. The main idea of the work is to study the technological process of generating hydrogen under pressure and to develop corresponding principles of regulating this process. One of such ideas involves the use of proportional-integral-derivative controllers for control in particularly critical parts of the installation, associated with high pressure and elevated temperature. Based on the proposed principles, algorithms for automatic control of the technological process of the considered installation have been created. A description of the implementation of the temperature and pressure control system during gas generation mode is provided. With the participation of Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation in the production of civilian products, an automation system has been created for the operational industrial prototype of a hydrogen generator.
