The Von Neumann Bottleneck in Photonic Tensor Core Systems

Reconfigurable photonic circuits have shown promise in high speed and power efficient computations but easily suffer from a memory bottleneck. Here we analyze this bottleneck for a photonic tensor core as well as explore and adapt solutions from digital electronics.
