Virtual Reality System Supporting Food Culture Learning

Informal cultural learners will continue to engage in learning as long as the information they receive remains appealing and interesting. They are also the target audience for cultural learning that leads to cultural awareness and preservation. To support food culture learning of informal learners, we propose an immersive experience system focusing on Japanese food culture learning. We designed a visually appealing virtual learning environment, using virtual reality technology to immerse users in diversified cultural scenarios. We also designed and introduced interesting tasks based on these scenarios, providing guidance while enhancing user engagement. Finally, we conducted an experiment to confirm the learning effectiveness and motivation of the participants.
