Performance Evaluation of Vector Control Induction Motor Drive with Reduced Common Mode Voltage Based PWM Schemes

This work investigates the performance impact of employing reduced common mode voltage (RCMV) oriented modified PWM schemes in vector control induction motor drives. RCMV PWM schemes promise a significant reduction in common mode voltage by design. However, their impact on the output response of the closed-loop motor drive systems is yet to be eval-uated. This work integrates two suitable RCMV PWM schemes, active zero switch pulse width modulation (AZPWM) and near state pulse width modulation (NSPWM), with vector control induction motor drive system. The results at first step verifies the closed loop applicability of the modified PWM schemes with vector control similar to conventional space vector PWM. Then motor performance parameters, torque and current response are quantified and cross compared among these schemes.
