A Novel Multifunctional Single-Stage Three-Port AC/DC Converter for Light Electric Vehicles

This paper proposes a single-stage three-port converter for light electric vehicle applications. The converter combines the onboard charger (OBC) function and the low voltage DC-DC converter (LDC) standalone mode function into one converter with a small number of components. Additionally, the elimination of the electrolytic capacitor enables the system to achieve high power density and reliability. A coupled inductor, along with the modulation strategy, can adjust the inductance value for seamless operation without needing additional AC relays or components to reconfigure operational modes. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed converter.
