Design of a DC Nano-Grid Based on DBS and Smart Variable Load Control Approaches

In this paper, an island, DC Nano-grid, is studied. It operates independently and does not have access to the national power grid so that it can be used for remote locations. The plan considers both supply-side management and demand-side management by prioritizing resources, including renewable sources (photovoltaic array and wind turbine), energy storage (battery) and non-renewable sources (diesel generator). Also, the separation of loads into sensitive and insensitive loads and priority for sensitive loads are designed so that while maintaining the system's reliability and creating a balance between consumption and production, economic and environmental issues are also considered. In addition, it tries to use the most exploited sources of electricity generation with the lowest cost (renewable sources). A hybrid distributed control method (DC BUS SIGNALING) controls the Nano-grid, in which the voltage drop is created in the DC bus (Voltage drop method) to control sources and loads. The paper's primary goal is to implement a controller to keep the DC bus voltage at a reasonable level in the presence of constant and variable loads and prevent excessive voltage drop.
